I was riding down Wrightwood just past Kostner when I spotted him in middle of the grassy parkway that separates the street there. He was doing some type of meditative movement. Tai Chi perhaps? Whatever it was, it was mesmerizing to watch. I also spotted his Giant leaning against the nearby tree. I rolled by slowly; I wanted to take his picture but didn’t want to intrude. I kept going, but he left an impression. About 20 minutes later, I decided to circle back to see if he was still there. He was just finishing up, rolling up the blanket that had been on the grass. I hopped off my bike, walked up and introduced myself.
I was greeted with the warmest smile and the most amazing energy that I’ve encountered in a very long time. We talked for a while about bikes and our mutual love of meandering through neighborhoods to find new places − like this nice shady spot that neither of us had ever been to before. We also spoke of karma, and I felt happy to be part of his for that day.
And then he rolled away. I hope to find him again someday while wandering.
