Chicago winter has been long and cold. Very cold. Under normal circumstances when I have writer’s block or need to solve a creative problem, I go for a bike ride. Something about the rhythmic nature of riding and exploring works for me every time. That’s been difficult this season, as Chicago experiences its coldest winter in 30 years.
On Friday, the wind chill rose to -10 but the sun was shining. So we bundled up, packing on layers to fend off the cold, and headed out for a long walk along the lakefront. It’s incredibly beautiful right now, and it was just what I needed: fresh air, blood pumping, and time away from a blank page.
How do you find inspiration?
